what Frozen taught me that I already knew

It seems as if everyone and their dog is on the Frozen movie trend right now. Apparently it is the highest grossing movie of all time?! Whether or not that is true, there’s one thing you can’t deny – it has the ability to capture hearts and homes all over the nation. So I thought to myself there’s definitely more to this than meets the eye and I’m gonna pull some fantastic life lessons outta this one. So lucky for you I’ve compiled some of the things that I think that you probably already know but because you’re either too lazy to change or just too dumb to stop repeating your mistakes, I’m going to guess that you need this little refresher on people you need to be more like or avoid like the plague.

Enjoy.

Elsa
The kind of girl who even though she had a rough self image to start, after she got away from the environment that was obviously skewing her perception of herself she ultimately decided to LET IT GO. F*ck people and what they say.. Like who cares? They’re not you. They don’t live your life, experience your pains or acquire your gains (that rhymed – I’m awesome! lol) so who gives a flying f*ck. Here’s a little insider tip: there is no shortage of assholes in this world. In fact they seem to be populating like the plague these days. It’s a shame really but what this teaches us is that there’s always going to be someone out there who is either thinking or going to say something about you that is to your disliking. So beat them to the punch. Acknowledge your flaws and issues. Love yourself anyways – YOU are the very reason why you are unique which means no one can take your place so why the heck would you want to be anyone else ? People are going to either like you, love you, hate you, admire you, be jealous of you or talk about about you (be it good or bad) so why not give em something worth their while? So for the love of God.. and humanity just figure out how to DO YOU and do it well.

Hanz (this is a two parter)

I know what you guys are thinking – what a douche right? But I mean you gotta give the guy an itty bitty teeny tiny break. He saw an opportunity to capitalize on his future and he went for it. He dove in head first and committed all the way. Keep in mind he is still a douche and in no way am I condoning lying, posing, and or deceiving people to get what you want but what I am saying is that anything is possible when you put your whole being into it. Don’t think about failing or succeeding just think about doing what you set out to do and give it all you got, then times that by 10 and you’re set! The mind is a powerful thing and we can have, do or be anything we want as long as we believe it and commit to it wholeheartedly.

Part 2
Remember that old saying “If looks too good to be true, it is.”? Ya this saying has Hanz written all over it. Yea he’s an asshole. And ladies (and gents and vice versas) if you’re looking for that special “one” – don’t fall for the unicorn. It will appear to be the most beautiful, talented, funny, smart and best thing you never had but DON’T DO IT. Just don’t. Actually think it through.. Ask he (or her) questions about family, friends, last relationships. Then creep their Facebook like a mo-fo. Haha jk kidding… But seriously you do need to dig a little deeper because not all the glitters is gold. REMEMBER, they are a unicorn for a reason!!!! Which means there’s something about them that ain’t nobody wanna be roped to for the rest of their lives,  so in short – RUN. Run fast and far away and don’t look back because that’s when you doubt yourself and get sucked back into the vortex of misery on steroids.

Olaf

This is pretty self explanatory. Always try look on the bright side of life. I know that that is easier said than done but now matter how big or small, there’s is ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel whether or not you choose to see it. Even if it looks as though it’s impossible, don’t stop dreaming or give up, after all he got to be a snowman during summer and didn’t melt! (of course that is a completely outrageous impossible situation for real life but is outlook can still be applied to any situation in life. I know that some of you (myself included) like to wallow in your own self misery and yes that can be somewhat satisfying and self-soothing in a sick kind of way but trust me… It gets you absolutely nowhere and hating anyone and everyone around you that doesn’t understand what you’re going through or give you the sympathy you so desperately crave. So GET OVER YOURSELF. Take a minute and try to find at least ONE thing that you’re grateful for and build off of that. Soon you’ll be able to get past the regular things that would have got you hung up for a while and you’ll be able to enjoy life more… and commit your negative Nancy attitude towards things that actually deserve it.

The elk:

Pay attention to the ones that love you the most. They’ll have your back and encourage you to see/do/be the things you never thought you could see/do or be. Sometimes when we are conflicted with ourselves and dealing with feelings or situation that we have a hard time understanding we tend to push those closest to us away. We tell ourselves that they just don’t understand and that they are not being supportive. When in actuality at least ONE of your friends or family knows exactly what you’re dealing with. There are like 6 billion people in the world right? So what makes you think you’re the only one who’s dealing with or going through what you are? Stop isolating yourself and putting your situation or feelings on the highest pedestal there is. I promise you that there have many people before you and there will continue to be many people after you that will experience what you’re going through. And even IF you don’t happen to know anyone personally then don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help. We are HUMAN after all – and what that means is that we are not perfect and we rely on people and relationships to help us steer ourselves in the right direction. Surround yourself around the kind of people you want to be and low and behold – by beholding we become changed. It really is that simple. Harder to apply to our lives but believing it mentally is always the hardest part. Believing that you deserve more and are worth more than you think will make all the difference in the world. So stick close to those that love you beyond your faults, that support you beyond your own weakness and encourage you to do the things that you thought weren’t possible. End of story.

Anna

I really don’t have much to say about Anna.. she seemed a little annoying to me.. but the one thing that I can pull from her is to try to not to be so self-absorbed. She was hurting just as much as Elsa was and yet Elsa was too caught up in her own issues to notice. When we shift our thinking from about ourselves to others we will see that 1. We are not alone and 2. We can make a difference in others lives. All Anna wanted was a relationship with her sister and she couldn’t understand why that wasn’t possible. All Elsa wanted was to be normal and not worry about having to hide her true self from others. Together they could have loved and encouraged each other to be able to deal with anything that came their way but instead they both suffered alone. The point I’m trying to get to is be honest with your friends and family. Be real. Don’t be afraid of being rejected because even if that does happen, there are 6 other billion people that you can call family or friends. Look beyond yourself and try to make a difference in someone else’s life and when you start to do that, you won’t even noticed that it will start to make a difference in your life too. After all, who doesn’t want to kill two birds with one stone? For those efficient folks, this is the shiznat.

Alright that’s it. I’m done my rant.  So take this to heart – I’d rather not have to lecture you guys again…

– A.

a born again virgin? hardly.

Alright,

Okay, this isn’t my first blogging rodeo but hopefully it’ll be the last one that works. I started another blog over a year ago, same name, same idea but for whatever reason I just wasn’t inspired enough to write on a regular basis. So this time around I figured I’d start fresh with a “new” website and instead of convincing myself I have to write a monologue every post, I figure I can still be charming, witty and insightful with a more condensed version. I hope to have a bigger fan base, not because I want to be popular but rather I would like you [the readers] to enjoy stepping into a world that’s interesting, chaotic, funny and hopefully thought provoking at the right times; this might even help me realize I’m not the only fish that jumps out of water from time to time.

So, here’s to the some of the funniest comments, most shocking moments, heartfelt honesty and genuine opinions you’ll ever get! And don’t be afraid to comment, I like a challenge…

Cheers,

A.
